Measurement Services: Reverse

DCM uses photogrammetry to provide 3D (and 2D) files of items, in multiple formats including, but not limited to CAD, Rhino and Solidworks.

DCM staff can attend sites for photo capture. Alternatively, DCM can work with clients to develop safe and proper procedures for ideal photo capture, uploading and processing by qualified DCM staff.

Through pictures, DCM uses photogrammetry to process and digitize items of all shapes, sizes and complexity. Previous projects have ranged from teeth to icebergs.

Photogrammety provides reliable, scientific and cost saving metrological services for all clients. Previous projects have included photo capture in hazardous areas, confined spaces, locations of difficult and/or dangerous entry. In these situations, pictures have been taken via DCM processes and provide accurate digitized files for the clients when alternative measurement services were not feasible.

In the winter of 2012, DCM was contacted to provide measurement solutions for the owner of a Donzi “Classic 18” powerboat.  This model of the Donzi did not include a windshield.  The owner had previously attempted to have a windshield designed for his Donzi with little success. 
Through the use of an existing Donzi after-market windshield on a different Donzi “Classic 18” (pictured below), DCM was able to attend the location of the boat (across a frozen lake in the middle of winter) to capture pictures for measurement processing. Then, after completing the measurements, DCM was able to provide the fabricator with a CAD file that contained an extremely accurate 3D model of the windshield that was reproduced.

The Donzi “Classic 18” Powerboat windshield represents the reverse engineering capabilities of DCM Technical Services Inc.  DCM will work with all customers to provide the most accurate measurement solutions in a friendly and timely manner.
